
Wildcatters pump IceGators 8-0

Lafayette, LA- The Texas Wildcatters scored 20 seconds into the game and never looked back as the Wildcatters pounded their way to a 8-0 win over the Louisiana IceGators, Saturday night in the Cajundome.
  Texas fired 23 shots at Nathan Marsters in first period and opened up a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. Just 20 seconds into the game, John Snowden (29) fired a wrist shot on a 2 on 1, from the right circle, past Marsters for a 1-0 lead. The next two goals would come on rebounds. At 15:49 Andrew Ianiero (19) picked up an errant slap shot from James Demone, as the puck bounced off the back boards into the slot, Ianiero lifted it past a diving Marsters for a 2-0 Texas advantage. At 17:43, Joe Pereira (3) picked up a rebound goal on a three shot sequence to give Texas a three goal cushion.
  Texas increased the lead to 4-0 at 5:43 of the 2nd period. Frederic Belanger (1) scoring as he followed up two of his own shots and put the third rebound into the net for his first lamp lighter of the season. John Snowden (30) scored a shorthanded wrist shot on another two on one at 8:12 to make the score 5-0. Snowden (31) completed his hat trick at 15:54, with a wrist shot from the slot on a power play, to give Texas a 6-0 lead.
  Snowden (32) scored his 4th of the night at 3:43, a power play goal, a 20 foot snap shot from the slot. Ianiero (20) scored on a rebound at 4:26 to make the final score 8-0.
  With the loss, Louisiana's record is now 24-39-6, 54 points and 5th place in the South. The Gators were outshot by Texas 39-34. Power plays were 0-5 for the Gators and 2-4 for the Wildcatters.
The Gators next game is Thursday night, April 7, when the Gators host the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 7:05pm. ALL games the remainder of the season can be heard on 960am "The Gator".
