Alaska Aces News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Marco Rosa scored twice and Sebastien Centomo stopped 29 of 30 shots as Long Beach rallied from an early 1-0 deficit Friday night to defeat Alaska 2-1 at Long Beach Arena.

The Aces survived a couple of early flurries by Long Beach, and took the lead by scoring on their first shot of the game, which came on a three-on-one. B.J. Young lured the lone defender into the left circle, spun away from traffic, and snapped a centering pass to his linemates Joe Talbot and Mike Scott, who were all along in front of Centomo. Scott's first shot rung off the post, but he tapped in the rebound for his 16th goal of the year at 9:04 and a 1-0 lead at intermission.

Long Beach tied the game early in the second period after an Alaska turnover deep in its own zone. Bill Lindsay feathered a pass between the circles to Rosa, who beat Aces goaltender Peter Aubry with a backhander tucked just underneath the crossbar at 3:38. Neither team was awarded a power play during the first 40 minutes.

Rosa again found the upper right corner with the game-winner from the top of the right circle at the 3:39 mark of the third period, and once more, Lindsay was the man who found him. Cal Benazic and newly acquired Ryan Gaucher each were stoned by Centomo in the closing moments as Alaska absorbed its first loss against a team other than Bakersfield since January 29. The Aces (42-18-8) still lead the West Division by four points over the second-place Ice Dogs and by five over Idaho, 5-1 winners over San Diego on Friday.

Alaska continues its five-game road trip to close the regular season tomorrow night in Fresno at 6:00 p.m. AST. The Aces have won all three of the previous meetings this season at the Save-Mart Center, but the Falcons (38-22-8) have won three in a row to draw within two points of the Condors for the fourth and final West Division playoff spot. The regular season concludes with three games against Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena April 5, 8, and 9.

All Alaska games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, with coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off. All four games left on the regular season schedule, as well as all home playoff contests, will be made available on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
