Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

LAFAYETTE, La. – Mississippi's Louis Dumont scored a goal and added two assists in his 700th ECHL game to help propel the Mississippi Sea Wolves to their fifth straight victory by downing the Louisiana IceGators 6-3 at the Cajundome.

"We played solid in the third and did what we had to do for the win," Mississippi coach Bob Woods said. "It wasn't our best effort, but we'll take any win this time of year. Congratulations to Louis for reaching a significant games played plateau. It was nice that he had a memorable night."

Mississippi (38-22-6, 82 points) opened the score at 1:13. Milt Mastad fed a lead pass to Dumont, who joins Gwinnett's Cam Brown as the second player to reach 700 ECHL games played, ripped a shot from the right circle past the left glove of goaltender Nathan Marsters for his 19th tally of the season. Sea Wolves goalie Phil Sauve also garnered an assist.

Louisiana (24-38-6, 54 points) replied at the 9:55 mark. Roger Leonard buried a turnaround shot from the right circle through traffic for his eighth of the campaign set up by Shawn Skiehar and Wes Mason.

The IceGators went up 2-1, as Doug MacIver sprung Alex Sawruk on a breakaway to net his fourth goal of the year. The goaltender Marsters also had a helper on the goal coming at the 13:24 mark of the first.

Sea Wolves' Jay Legault was assessed a double-minor for high-sticking IceGators' Chris Thompson at the 26 second mark of the middle stanza.

On the ensuing power-play, Louisiana's Sawruk connected in front for his second goal of the game and fifth of the year with helpers going to David Turon and Wes Mason at 3:38.

Mississippi rebounded with two quick goals. Bates Battaglia on a wraparound jammed home his fourth of the campaign with assists going to Dumont and Kerry Ellis-Toddington.

Just 14 seconds later, Lucas Drake took a lead pass from Darryl Campbell and notched his seventh of the season. Mastad also collected his second assist of the game on the goal which made it 3-3.

In the third, the birthday boys broke it open for Mississippi. Austin Miller, who was celebrating his 27th birthday, netted a power-play goal for the eventual game-winner at 1:47 assisted by Bates and Anthony Battaglia.

Then Lisabeth, who was celebrating his 25th birthday, tallied his 24th of the year and extended his goal scoring streak to five games by depositing in front of the Louisiana net. Dumont and Mike Jarmuth had helpers.

Legault scored an unassisted empty-netter with 1:14 remaining for his 19th goal of the campaign to round out the scoring.

Mississippi converted on 1-of-3 power play chances, while Louisiana went 1-for-4. IceGators outshot the Sea Wolves 33-24.
