
Wildcatters finish road trip with 2-1 win at South Carolina

Charleston, SC- The Texas Wildcatters won their third straight and extended their unbeaten streak to five games, beating the South Carolina Stingrays 2-1 Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Ross Carlson began the scoring with an even strength goal in the final minute of the first period to send the Wildcatters, who are 7-0-0 when leading after one period, to the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.
Brandon Benedict would extend the Texas lead to 2-0 with his fifth goal of the season on the power play at 3:30 of the second. John McNabb and Jonathan Paiement would assist on the play.
Peter Aubry, who has been stellar in the final stages of this road trip since Anton Khudobin was recalled to Houston, made 28 saves in the effort and raised his record to 7-2-0 on the season.
The only puck to get past Aubry would be a Travis Morin goal at 11:38 of the third period as the center would register his tenth of the season on the power play to bring the score to 2-1.
The teams would each finish 1-for-7 on the power play and Davis Parley would stop 26 shots in the losing effort for the Stingrays.
With the win the âCatters move to 4-0-3 in one-goal games and extend South Carolina's losing streak to five games.
At 12-2-0-3 the Wildcatters have the most wins in the ECHL and hold a six-point standings lead in the South Division over the Gwinnett Gladiators (10-3-0-1) and a seven-point lead over the Florida Everblades (10-5-0-0).
