
Wild Cruises Past Admirals 4-1

MILWAUKEE, WI - The Iowa Wild (9-23-2-3, 23 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (23-13-2-0, 48 points) 4-1 in front of 6,585 fans at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Saturday night. Wild forward Zack Mitchell scored twice, leading the Wild to its fourth victory in the last five outings. Iowa goalie Jeremy Smith (4-11-2) made 24 saves on 25 shots in the win. Forwards Kurtis Gabriel and Michael also scored for the Wild in the victory. Admirals goalie Juuse Saros (14-5-0) made 30 saves on 34 shots in the defeat. The Wild returns home on Sunday at 5 p.m. to host the Rockford IceHogs.
Wild forward Zack Mitchell opened the scoring at 6:17 of the first period, giving Iowa a 1-0 lead. Forwards Jordan Schroeder and Grayson Downing each tallied an assist on the goal. Schroeder picked up the puck at the left circle and fed a pass to Mitchell in front of the net. He wristed a low shot past goalie Juuse Saros for his 11th goal of the season.
Admirals forward Max Reinhart scored at 3:41 of the second period, tying the game 1-1. Right wing Adam Payerl earned the lone assist on the goal. Reinhart entered the offensive zone down the left side, firing a shot on net from the left boards. He picked up his own rebound and bounced the puck off goalie Jeremy Smith and into the net for his 11th goal of the season. Wild forward Kurtis Gabriel scored at 5:50 of the period, giving the Wild a 2-1 lead. Gabriel caused a turnover in front of the Admirals net and flipped the puck behind Saros for his fourth goal of the season. Forward Zack Mitchell scored at 12:42 of the second period, giving Iowa a 3-1 lead. Forward Grayson Downing picked up his second assist of the night on the goal. Downing found Mitchell in the slot with a pass from the left corner. Mitchell beat Saros high on the glove side for his 12th goal of the season.
Wild forward Micheal Keranen scored at 15:08 of the third period, giving Iowa a 4-1 lead. Defenseman Joe Finley and forward Tyler Graovac each earned an assist on the goal. Finley received a pass from Graovac and fired a shot on net. Keranen picked up the rebound and slid the puck past Saros for his sixth goal of the season.
The Wild hosts Milwaukee on Sunday, Jan. 10 for a 5 p.m. game against the Rockford IceHogs. Subway and Star 102.5 Combo pack is available for purchase for Sunday's game. The combo pack includes one ticket, one hot dog, one soda, and one Subway coupon for $12.
The Wild hosts a postgame concert following its' game against the San Jose Barracuda on Jan. 16. The concert is headlined by country star, CAM. Cam's song "Burning House" is a Grammy nominee for "Best Country Solo Performance" of the year. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April.
