St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Portland Pirates scored three first period goals en route to a 4-1 win over the St. John's IceCaps Saturday at Mile One Centre. The win gave the Pirates a tw0-game weekend sweep and a 2-0 lead in the Eimskip Port-to-Port Challenge Cup series.

All three first period tallies came in the game's opening 11 minutes and ended goaltender Eddie Pasquale's night early. Zach Fucale took over between the pipes and stopped 23-of-24 shots in relief.

Gabriel Dumont scored the lone goal for St. John's with a late third period marker to break the shutout bid by Pirates netminder Mike McKenna, who stopped 40 shots on the night.

It was a testy affair all game long, with the teams combining for 66 minutes in penalties.

The IceCaps continue their six-game home stand Tuesday and Wednesday versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (7:30 PM NST). Tickets are available at the Mile One Centre Box Office (12-5 daily) or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
