Wheeling Nailers News Release

BILOXI, MISS - The Wheeling Nailers best start ever continued Saturday night as they picked up their 9th game in a row without a loss registering a 4-1 win over the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the 2nd game of a 3 game series.

The Nailers remain on top of the North Division standings and remain the only team in the ECHL without a loss in regulation this year.

Rob Sirianni led the attack with a pair of goals as the Nailers improved to 6-0-3 on the season. Wheeling native Brian Ewing scored his 2nd goal of the season and Nick Johnson tallied his league-leading 10th goal of the year and 3rd of the weekend.

Curtis Darling stopped 26 of 27 Sea Wolves shots for the win. His lone mistake was a give-away behind his own goal to allow Mississippi their one goal on the night. Darling improved to 4-0-2 with the victory.

Back to back goals early in the 2nd period silenced the crowd of over 6700 at Biloxi when the Nailers built their lead from 1-0 to 3-0.

All 4 goals were of the 5-on-5 variety. The top-ranked Nailers power play went a disappointing 0-for-9 for the 3rd game in a row without a PPG. That's perhaps the only negative on the night for Wheeling who took it to the Sea Wolves right from the start.

The Nailers killed off a Sea Wolves power play mid-way through the 3rd period as they were trying to preserve their 3-1 lead. After Mississippi failed to score Rob Sirianni buried the Tobias Holm centering feed at the 13:30 mark of the 3rd to make it 4-1 and put the finishing touches on the win.

The Nailers and Sea Wolves wrap up their 3 game series Sunday evening at 6:05.

Wheeling returns home for a Friday night game (November 14) against the Dayton Bombers on Pups-and-Pucks night when fans are allowed to bring their dog to the game. The Nailers will provide treats and frisbees for the dogs in this fun promotion. It's also a Friday Four-Pack night. Fans can purchase a special discounted package of 4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 hot dogs and a popcorn for only $44. The Nailers are also having an autograph signing session after the game. Get autographs or get your picture taken with your favorite Wheeling Nailers players after the contest.
