Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - G Michael Ouzas stopped 36 shots to lead the Fresno Falcons to a 5-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors before 7,146 fans at Rabobank Arena Saturday night. Olympic Gold Medal swimmer Jason Lezak was in attendance for the game and Olympic jersey auction.

The Falcons (6-3-0, 12pts) got on the board first, spoiling the Bakersfield debut of G Ryan Nie with a tally by RW Matt Stefanishion at 9:50. The Condors (2-6-1, 5pts) picked up the momentum in the latter stages of the frame and ended up outshooting Fresno 12-9 in the period. Ouzas was perfect through 20 minutes.

Bakersfield bounced back in the second and took the lead when F Matt Pope scored twice in the span of just 19 seconds. The tallies gave him five goals on the season, tied for second on the club, and eight points, which leads the team. The lead wouldn't last, however, as just 1:30 later F Oren Eizenman scored unassisted to tie the game. LW Jarrett Konkle netted a power play goal with 4:59 left in the period to make it 3-2 after two.

Fresno added two more in the final frame to account for the final 5-2 score. They scored on the power play at 1:48 of the third, and an empty net goal in the final minute sealed the win. Nie stopped 20 of 24 shots in the loss.

Jersey Auction raises $23,325_____

After the game, the Condors auctioned off their game-worn Olympic Jerseys to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. The auction brought in a total of $23,325, with D Scotty Balan's jersey bringing in a nightly high of $2,500. Californian Olympic swimming hero Jason Lezak was in attendance to take photos and sign autographs with fans, and had a personalized Olympic Condors jersey auctioned off as well, which went for $2,100.

Five jerseys were also raffled off to fans in attendance.
