NEWS & NOTES:
Last Game: The Wheat Kings fixed their struggles on offense Friday night putting up six goals on the Winnipeg Ice. Issue was, the ICE would score 7 goals to win in overtime. There were a lot of positives for the Wheat Kings with Dawson Pasternak picking up his first 3 point night earning 2nd star and the powerplay got going again. The Overtime loss tied the Medicine Hat Tigers for most in the Western Hockey League. In the sixth meeting with the ICE, the Wheat Kings season series record fell to 0-3-3.
Feb 5th VS Saskatoon Blades : The Wheat Kings and Blades meet for the fifth time this season. This will be a rematch of last Tuesday night's game where the Blades stormed back to win in overtime. The Wheat Kings maintained a 1-0 lead until late in the 3rd period when the Saskatoon Blades scored on their 5th power play attempt to tie it up. The Blades would eventually win the game 15 seconds into overtime with Charlie Wright beating Nate Danielson and then beating Carson Bjarnason through the five hole giving the Blades a 2-1 road win. Now, the Blades are getting a big boost to their lineup with a couple more players returning including Captain Aidan De La Gorgiendiere & Misha Volotoskii. The Wheat Kings season series record versus the Blades is 0-2-2.
Who's Hot: Brett Hyland currently has 15 goals scored in his last 17 games. Forward Nate Danielson has been stellar as of late scoring 43 points in his last 29 games. Nolan Ritchie has 35 points in his last 26 games. Calder Anderson has 20 points in his last 20 games.
