Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Allentown, Pennsylvania - After rallying from a run down in the ninth, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (24-24) walked-off the Buffalo Bisons (22-25) on a Weston Wilson two-run homer for an 11-9 win on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
The Bisons broke the ice in the first inning on a two-run homer from Tanner Morris before the IronPigs scored their first run of the game in the second on an RBI groundout from Jordan Qsar.
Buffalo scored three times in the top of the fourth thanks to an RBI single from Tyler Heineman, an RBI fielder's choice from Tanner Morris, and a wild pitch that scored Rafael Lantigua.
Jake Cave socked a two-run homer in the fifth for the IronPigs, his sixth of the year, to cut the deficit to 5-3.
The Bisons answered right back, scoring two in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Tanner Morris and a steal of home by Rafael Lantigua.
The IronPigs scored one run in the sixth on an error but started their comeback bid in earnest in the seventh. Back-to-back RBI singles from Simon Muzziotti and Drew Ellis brought the IronPigs to within one before Weston Wilson roped a two-run single to vault the IronPigs in front 8-7.
In the eighth, the Bisons drew three walks to open the inning before a sacrifice fly from Spencer Horwitz tied the game. With two outs in the inning, Wynton Bernard roped an RBI double to put Buffalo ahead 9-8.
In the ninth, Cave doubled to lead off the inning. After a popup, Ellis singled him home to tie the game before Wilson belted his team leading 13th homer to end the game and give the IronPigs an 11-9 victory.
Andrew Bellatti (1-0) threw a perfect ninth for the IronPigs, striking out one to earn the win.
Jay Jackson (0-2) suffered the loss for the Bisons, allowing three runs on three hits in 1.1 innings, striking out one.
