WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Noah Welch from loan to the Wilkes-Barre/sCranton Penguins, it was announced today by general manager Craig Patrick.

Additionally, center Kurtis McLean has been returned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) on loan.

Welch, 23, has appeared in all 68 of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's games this season, recording 26 points (9+27), 81 penalty minutes and a plus-12 rating during his first professional campaign. The 6-4, 215 pound native of Brighton, MA, was voted a starter for the PlanetUSA All-Stars at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic.

Pittsburgh's second round choice (54th overall) in the 2001 Entry Draft, Welch played four seasons at Harvard University, recording 75 points (23+52) in 128 career games. He is the Crimson's all-time leader in penalties (131) and penalty minutes (270).

McLean, 25, has appeared in 27 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, recording 12 points (3+9) and a plus-5 rating.

The 5-11, 175 pound native of Kirkland Lake, Ontario began the season with the Nailers, and has recorded 46 points (25+21) and a plus-20 rating in 36 games with Wheeling this season.

McLean was signed by the Penguins as a free agent on Sept. 29, 2005.
