Worcester Sharks News Release
WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Sharks President Michael T. Lehr announced today that the team will hold a Seat Selection Party at the DCU Center on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 3pm. The party will also feature the "birth" and naming of the team's new mascot, which will be unveiled with the help of San Jose Sharks Prospects Josh Hennessy, Garrett Stafford, Tom Cavanagh, and Worcester Sharks Assistant Coach David Cunniff.
Fans attending the event will lay claim to their Sharks Territory by selecting their favorite seats in order of when their pledge for tickets was received. The event is completely free and open to the public. Sharks ticket representatives will be on-hand to answer questions and accept new pledges for anyone interested in selecting a seat that day.
San Jose Sharks prospects will be on-hand to sign autographs and take photos with the fans. Prospects expected to attend include Brockton, MA native Josh Hennessy, Harvard University product Tom Cavanagh, and former University of New Hampshire defenseman Garrett Stafford. David Cunniff, a South Boston native and Assistant Coach for San Jose's affiliate will also be on-hand to meet fans.
The party will also feature youth hockey action on the ice. At 3pm, the Minutemen Flames Mites will take the ice, followed by the Minutemen Lady Flames Pee Wee team. The Minutemen Lady Flames will be participating in the National Championship tournament in Buffalo next week.
As a way of showing appreciation for all those who pledged for season tickets and helped bring the Sharks into town, the party will feature an exclusive raffle including two trips for four to Orlando, FL courtesy of Allegiant Air. The San Jose Sharks will also be giving away two trips for two to San Jose and 150 pieces of autographed Sharks memorabilia.
"Sunday's party gives our ticket partners their first opportunity to stake their claim in Sharks Territory," said Lehr. "The excitement and energy of Sharks hockey is going to be all about the fans and this event gets us skating toward our inaugural season."
The Sharks will open their inaugural season in October 2006 at the DCU Center in Worcester. Full-season, Flex-Ticket plans, Half-Season, and Ten-Game Packs are on sale now. To be a part of the action, secure your seat by contacting the Sharks Front Office at 508.929.0500 or Crash the Net at www.sharksahl.com.
