Adirondack Phantoms News Release

EVENT: PHILADELPHIA PHANTOMS TO SEND OFF PHANTOMS BANTAM TEAM TO NATIONALS WITH PREGAME RECOGNITION

WHEN: Sunday, March 26 5:05 PM

PLACE: Wachovia Spectrum DETAILS: The Philadelphia Phantoms have captured the American Hockey League's (AHL) top prize twice, etching their name in the Calder Cup in 1998 and 2005. The Philadelphia Phantoms Tier I 14 & Under team is headed down the same path, as they will compete for the USA Hockey National Championship beginning on March 29 in Rochester, NY. In honor of this already impressive achievement, the young Phantoms will receive an on-ice sendoff from the big club Sunday evening, when the Portland Pirates visit the Wachovia Spectrum at 5:05 PM.

With a convincing 9-0 win over the New Jersey Colonials on March 11, the Bantam squad qualified for USA Hockey's premier youth event. The Phantoms allowed just five shots on goal in the game and put an exclamation point on a remarkable season. The team finished first in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL) with a 27-1 record and then defeated the Colonials twice in the District Finals to earn a spot at USA Hockey's Nationals.

The team will be on ice during pregame warm-ups and stand alongside the big club during the National Anthem and will then depart for the tournament. The Bantam AAA title will be decided in a five day, 12-team tournament, with the championship game on April 2.
