Barons Skate Past Rochester, 4-3

ROCHESTER, NY - Dimitri Patzold made 26-saves to lead the Barons to a 4-3 victory over the Rochester Americans on Friday night. Tom Cavanagh registered a goal and an assist in the victory.

Rochester skated to a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play. Daniel Paille scored his 10th goal of the season when he completed a backhanded pass from Stefan Meyer. Rob Globke also earned an assist on the goal. The period ended fairly evenly as the Barons led in shots 8-7.

The Barons battled back to score three goals in the second period. Tomas Plihal netted his 5th goal of the year on the power play to even the game. The Barons took their first lead of the night as Riley Armstrong trickled a puck past Rochester goaltender Michael Leighton. The goal, his 4th of the year, was assisted by Brad Staubitz and Josh Prudden. The Americans would respond just 14-seconds later as Chris Taylor notched his 6th of the year at the 14:18 mark of the second stanza. Aaron Power sent a puck between Leighton's legs and the Barons skated to a 3-2 lead through forty minutes of play. Josh Hennessy and Tom Cavanagh assisted on Power's goal.

Tom Cavanagh extended the Barons lead to two as the Barons scored their second power play goal of the night. Cavanagh's goal, his 7th of the season, was assisted by Chris Heid and Josh Prudden. Rochester responded on the power play as Clarke MacArthur scored his 18th of the year. That would end scoring for the night as the Barons held on to win the game 4-3.

The Barons finish their three games in three nights stretch tomorrow in Toronto. Following the road trip, the Barons will kick-start the month of April with a five game homestand to finish out the regular season, including back-to-back games against the Iowa Stars on the 1st and 2nd.
