August 20, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City RedHawks extended their home winning streak in dramatic fashion Tuesday with a 6-5 walk-off win against the Albuquerque Isotopes in front of 3,893 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing Albuquerque, 5-4. With two outs and two strikes on the scoreboard, RedHawks infielder Jose Martinez hit a RBI double to tie the game. Outfielder George Springer followed with a single that scored Martinez to complete the come-from-behind win.

Oklahoma City (75-56) extended its club record winning streak to 17 games and wrapped up a five-game sweep of Albuquerque (67-64). The first-place RedHawks also maintained their six-game edge in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division standings.

Martinez led all players with three hits and three RBI as the RedHawks swept a fourth straight series at home.

Springer went 2-for-5 and collected his 36th home run of the season in his time in Triple-A and Double-A combined. He also boosted his season totals to 102 RBI and 100 runs scored in the win.

Springer opened the scoring Tuesday in the bottom of the first inning. He homered on a line drive off the LED board in left field for his 17th home run with the RedHawks.

Albuquerque hit three straight singles with two outs and tied the game, 1-1, in the fourth inning. A two-run single by the Isotopes' Eliezer Alfonzo put his team ahead, 3-1, in the top of the fifth. That marked the first time during the RedHawks' home winning streak that they trailed by more than one run in a game, but they quickly responded.

Ruben Sosa walked to load the bases with none out in the fifth and Trevor Crowe followed by drawing a walk to bring home the RedHawks' second run of the night. Martinez followed with a two-run single to regain the RedHawks' lead, 4-3.

Albuquerque added two runs in the top of the seventh inning with back-to-back RBI singles. The Isotopes' 5-4 lead marked the latest the RedHawks have trailed in a game during their home win streak.

Catcher Carlos Perez led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Sosa. Crowe struck out for the second out of the inning before Martinez doubled and Springer singled to seal the RedHawks' win.

Pitcher Rhiner Cruz (1-2) retired all three Isotopes batters he faced in the top of the ninth to record the win for Oklahoma City. Albuquerque pitcher Javy Guerra (0-4) was charged with the loss.

Tuesday's game marked the final meeting of the season between the two teams and Oklahoma City won the season series, 11-5. The RedHawks won a sixth straight game, while Albuquerque lost its eighth game in a row.

The RedHawks open their final road trip of the regular season and a key five-game series with Round Rock at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Dell Diamond.
