
Vipers Tie Single-Season Home Wins Record

HIDALGO, TEXAS - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers outscored the Dakota Wizards 31-21 in the fourth quarter to pick-up their NBA Development League single-season record-tying 21st home win of the season with a 108-100 victory tonight at State Farm Arena in front of a crowd of a sell-out crowd of 5,641.
The Vipers (34-15) are now 21-3 at home. The 2008 NBA Development League Champion Idaho Stampede finished 21-4 at home while the 2009 NBA Development League Champion Colorado 14ers finished 20-4 at home.
The Vipers (34-15) and Wizards (28-21) traded baskets throughout most of the game, but with the exception of four lead changes in the first three quarter, the Wizards maintained a small lead. A Julian Sensley dunk with 0.2 seconds left in the third quarter brought the Vipers within 79-77, and after Memphis Grizzlies-assignee Lester Hudson hit a technical free throw, Craig Winder hit a three-pointer to produce the game's first tie at 80-80. Maurice Baker and Will Conroy traded lay-ups to keep the game tied at 82-82.
After Marcus Dove gave the Wizards a four-point led with a jumper, Ernest Scott hit a technical free throw, Sensley nailed a three-pointer and Jonathan Wallace hit a lay-up to give the Vipers their first lead since the first quarter at 92-90 with 5:49 remaining. Sensley hit a lay-up to extend the run to 8-0 as the Vipers took a 94-90 lead.
Conroy led all scorers with 21 points to go with 13 assists while picking up his 13th double-double of the season. Antonio Anderson finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Sensley scored 13 points with six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Darren Cooper led the Wizards with 18 points and Corsley Edwards scored 17 points. Hudson finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The Vipers and Wizards close out the regular season on Fan Appreciation Night tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at State Farm Arena. The first 500 kids in attendance will receive free youth Vipers jerseys, courtesy of Lone Star National Bank. Houston Rockets Hall of Fame mascot Clutch the Bear will perform. Doors open at 6:30.
