Donell Taylor leads Stampede to victory

BOISE, Idaho - Donell Taylor led the Stampede as they defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders 122 - 99 in Boise.

The Stampede came out blazing and scored 43 points in the first quarter to the D-Fenders' 25. Taylor led Idaho's charge with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists all in the first.

By the end of two quarters the Stampede had three players in double-figures including Taylor with ten points Joe Dabbert with 14 and Mildon Ambres with 13. Rodney Webb let the D-Fenders offensive efforts coming off the bench to score 14 points in the first half. Although L.A. outscored Idaho 24 - 17 in the second quarter, the Stampede went into halftime with a comfortable 91 - 72 lead.

The Stampede maintained their tempo in the second half of the game solidifying the win. The D-Fenders fought back but were never able to take the lead. Idaho outscored L.A. 62-50 in the second half, leading by as much as 27 points.

Gabriel Hughes came off the bench for L.A. and earned a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. The D-Fenders had four other players score in double-figures including Rodney Webb and James Wright with 18 points and Ray Reese with 13.

Taylor earned his first triple-double of the season and second for the Stampede with 18 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds. Mildon Ambres earned his 13th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Joe Dabbert also had a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds making it his ninth of the season.

"I thought we came out and built upon what we accomplished on Wednesday," said Stampede Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. "I think our guys are showing what true professionals they are by finishing this season off right."

The D-Fenders stay in Boise and will play Idaho again tomorrow night in Boise for both teams' last game of the 2009-10 season.
