D-Fenders lose to Stampede

Boise, ID- Donell Taylor led the Idaho Stampede as they defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders (16-33), 122 - 99 on Friday night at Qwest Arena.

The Stampede came out blazing and scored 43 points in the first quarter to the D-Fenders' 25. Taylor led Idaho's charge with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists at the close of the first quarter.

By the end of two quarters the Stampede had three players in double-figures. Los Angeles' Rodney Webb came off the bench to score 14 points in the first half. Although the D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 24 - 17 in the second quarter, the Stampede maintained the lead at halftime, 91-72.

The Stampede sustained their tempo in the second half helping to secure the win. The D-Fenders fought back but were never able to take the lead. Idaho outscored Los Angeles 62-50 in the second half, leading by as much as 27 points.

Gabriel Hughes came off the bench for L.A. and earned a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Rodney Webb and James Wright grabbed 18 points apiece, while teammate Ray Reese contributed with 13 points for the D-Fenders.

Taylor earned his first triple-double of the season and second for the Stampede with 18 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds. Mildon Ambres earned his 13th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Joe Dabbert also grabbed a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds making it his ninth of the season.

"I thought we came out and built upon what we accomplished on Wednesday," said Stampede Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. "I think our guys are showing what true professionals they are by finishing this season off right."
