
Two-Out Runs Hurt 'Wolves in Series Opener

The SeaWolves six-game winning streak was snapped on Monday night to the Binghamton Mets, 10-1 at NYSEG Stadium.
Binghamton jumped ahead in the second on Erie starter Tommy Collier. The Mets loaded the bases on a Vince Belnome single and back-to-back walks by Jonathan Galvez and Xorge Carrillo. With one out, Gilbert Gomez hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Belnome for a 1-0 lead. L.J. Mazzili singled home a pair and T.J. Rivera doubled home one for a 4-0 Mets edge.
Erie got on the board in the top of the fourth when Jason Krizan slammed a one-out, solo home run making it a 4-1 game.
In the fifth, the Mets extended the lead. Rivera singled with one out and scored on a two-out Brock Peterson double making it 5-1.
The Mets would take a commanding lead in the sixth. Galvez and Carrillo each singled to start the inning. With two outs, Collier walked Mazzilli, loading the bases. Rivera picked up his fourth hit of the game, an RBI single, scoring Galvez for a 6-1 lead. Joe Benson doubled down the left field line, scoring Carrillo and Mazzilli making it 8-1. Peterson capped the scoring for the inning, knocking in Rivera for a 9-1 Mets lead.
Binghamton added one more in the eighth against reliever Cal Drummond. The Mets loaded the bases, and with two outs, Galvez knocked in Rivera for a 10-1 lead.
Nine of the Mets runs scored with two outs.
Collier (4-3) took the loss allowing a season-high nine runs on 10 hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
