New Britain Rock Cats News Release

The Bowie Baysox ended the Rock Cats bid for their first 4-game win streak since June with a 5-2 win Monday night at New Britain Stadium. Nick Additon pitched well for Bowie and surrendered only one unearned run in seven innings of work to earn his second win. Rockies prospect Jeff Hoffman was the tough luck loser with a quality start in six innings of work, his longest outing since joining New Britain. He allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts in his fifth start since being acquired by the Rockies in the Troy Tulowitzki exchange in July.

Bowie scored the first run of the game in the second inning on a fielder's choice grounder by Mike Yastrzemski, the grandson of Red Sox Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, scoring Chance Sisco who led off with a double.

The Rock Cats tied the game in the bottom of the second on a throwing error by catcher Chance Sisco attempting to throw out Jordan Patterson who was stealing third base. The high throw sailed into left field allowing Patterson to tie the game.

The Orioles affiliate took a 2-1 lead in the 4th inning after Quincy Latimore tripled and eventually scored on an infield grounder by Sisco. It remained 2-1 until the 8th inning when the Baysox added two runs off the Rock Cats bullpen making it a 4-1 game. Bowie scored again in the 9th inning before the Rock Cats' Noel Cuevas came home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the frame.

The Rock Cats continue their final homestand in New Britain on Tuesday night (7:05 PM) against the Bowie Baysox. RHP Shane Carle will start for the Rock Cats while LHP Ariel Miranda counters for the BaySox. Carle is leading the Eastern League with 13 wins.
