
Turple Called up to AHL Grand Rapids Again

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Dan Turple has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League by the Atlanta Thrashers. Turple, under contract to the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers currently owns a 13-10-2-1 record in 26 games with the Gladiators this season.
This will mark Turple's fourth trip to the AHL this season and third to Grand Rapids after he was called up to the Chicago Wolves from October 19th to October 31st. Turple did not see any game action in his first call-up to the AHL.
In his 26 appearances in Gwinnett this season, Turple, a native of Hamilton, ON, has a goals against average of 3.13 and a save percentage of 0.906.
In addition, the 6-foot-6-inch Turple earned ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week of December 10th through December 16th.
Turple should be available for the Griffins as take on the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
