March 15, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release

CHARLESTON, SC -The Florida Everblades (35-21-8) fell 3-1 to the South Carolina Stingrays (40-21-3), who won their fourth straight game, on Saturday night at the N. Charleston Coliseum in front of a crowd of 6,955.

A fast-paced and wild first period saw the teams combine to score three goals in a span of under two minutes midway through the frame, and plenty of hard-hitting action as well. Although the Stingrays carried a good portion of the play over the first 10 minutes of the contest, the Everblades tallied the game's first goal.

Taking advantage of a 2-on-1 rush, the Everblades saw Kenndal McArdle one-time a good quick shot from the left circle high into the net at 11:39 past Stingrays net-minder David Parley. Derek Damon and Preston Callander assisted on McArdle's second goal of the season, giving Florida a 1-0 lead. That lead however was short-lived as the Stingrays tied the contest 58 seconds later when Rory Rawlyk succeeded on his third effort at the left post after two stops by Everblades goaltender Kevin Nastiuk to even the score.

South Carolina didn't wait long to grab the lead as new-comer Todd Griffith took a bank pass out of the South Carolina zone and in on a breakaway, where he beat Nastiuk with a wrist shot from between the circles at 13:19. The Stingrays took the 2-1 lead into the locker room despite being out-shot by the Everblades 16-9.

The Stingrays extended their lead to 3-1 off the opening face-off in the second period. Todd Griffith brought the puck in the zone on the left side, before sending a pass across to Pierre-Luc O'Brien who one-timed a shot from the right circle past Nastiuk for his 11th goal of the season just 16 seconds into the frame.

The score remained that way through the remainder of the second period in large part to the Everblades penalty killers who killed off all three Stingray power play opportunities in the frame. When the period ended South Carolina took the two-goal lead into the intermission along with a 14-10 period shot advantage.

Parley took care of the rest, turning away all nine shots he faced in the third period, and a total of 34 to raise his record to 20-9-2. Nastiuk played well, but suffered the tough-luck loss allowing the three goals on 34 shots, which dropped his record to 4-3-2.

On the power play, the Everblades closed out the night 0-for-6, while the Stingrays finished the contest 0-for-5.
