Trenton Devil And Bucks County Son Gunderson Selected To ECHL All-Rookie Team

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Devils, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that Ryan Gunderson has been selected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team for the 2007-2008 season.

The native of Bensalem, PA leads ECHL rookie defensemen and ranks second overall among defensemen with 40 assists while his 44 points in 70 games leads all first-year defensemen and is tied for fifth overall. The 22 year old was selected to the ECHL All-Star Game after leading ECHL defensemen with 17 assists and tying for third among blue liners with 19 points in 25 games at the break.

Gunderson is currently second on the Trenton Devils in scoring and leads the team with 28 special teams points (2g, 26a). He earned the first four-point game of his career on January 25, when he posted four helpers in a 5-2 victory over Elmira. The lefty has put together 10 multi-point games this season, in which Trenton has a record of 8-1-1.

The 5-11, 178-pounder came to the Devils after playing collegiately with the University of Vermont, where he set a school record in games played (148) and was amongst the team leaders in assists each of his four years.

A local product, Gunderson skated with Holy Ghost Prep and owns the team's records in single season and career points. He also spent a year with the Mercer Chiefs of the AYHL.

The Trenton Devils finish out their year with a final homestand at Sovereign Bank Arena, taking on the Elmira Jackals Friday, April 4 at 7:30 and the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday, April 5 at 7:00pm.
