
Treasurer to Award CollegeChoice 529 Investment Accounts at Ft. Wayne Wizards Game

INDIANAPOLIS/FORT WAYNE - State Treasurer Richard Mourdock will be awarding three $500 CollegeChoice 529 Investment Plan accounts at the Ft. Wayne Wizards game Wednesday evening.
The Ft. Wayne Wizards and IDEARC Media Reading Club challenges students across Northeastern Indiana in a variety of reading contests. Over 200 schools and over 70 libraries have participated in the IDEARC Media Reading Club over the past three years. IDEARC Media is the official publisher of the Verizon Yellow Pages.
Winners for the 2007-2008 school year include:
- Sydney McKown from Blackhawk Christian School, Fort Wayne.
- Kyle Miazgafrom Horace Mann Elementary School, Huntington.
- Erin Adair from Emmanuel-St. Michael School, Fort Wayne.
The award ceremony will begin at 6:35 p.m. at Memorial Stadium, 1616 E. Coliseum Blvd in Fort Wayne.
The CollegeChoice 529 Investment Plan is a state and federal tax-advantaged program that allows families to invest for loved one's future education expenses. The earnings on a CollegeChoice 529 Investment Plan are exempt from both federal and state income taxes when used for qualified expenses. Currently, Hoosiers who contribute to a CollegeChoice account can take a state income tax credit on 20% of their contributions, up to a $1,000 maximum credit.
