New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

New Britain, CT-Travis Snider went 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBI as the Fisher Cats opened a 10-3 lead, but New Hampshire needed help, scoring on an error in the top of the tenth inning for an 11-10 victory at New Britain on Thursday night.

Snider homered for the third consecutive game and fourth time since joining the team with a three-run shot off starter Deolis Guerra in the top of the fifth to give the Fisher Cats an 8-2 lead.

Kyle Drabek worked the first seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits. But New Britain scored six times in the bottom of the eighth inning and once in the ninth against the Fisher Cats bullpen to force extra innings, denying Drabek an opportunity for his tenth win.

The Fisher Cats (58-41) opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Darin Mastroianni (3-for-5) led off the ballgame by drilling a 3-2 pitch to the wall in left center. Mastroianni took third on a fly out by Adam Loewen and scored on a sacrifice fly by Travis Snider to make it 1-0.

New Britain (28-71) ended a 23.1 inning scoreless drought by putting one on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Ben Revere led off with a walk and stole second. He moved to third on a bunt single by Brandon Roberts and scored on Steve Singleton's groundout.

New Hampshire moved back in front in the top of the third inning. Jonathan Diaz and Darin Mastroianni each drew walks, moving up on an Adam Loewen ground out. Travis Snider then beat out an infield single as Diaz and Mastroianni both scored to make it 3-1.

The Rock Cats cut the deficit in the bottom of the third inning. Juan Portes led off with a double, moved to third on a Ben Revere ground out and scored on a ground out by Brandon Roberts.

The Fisher Cats scored for the third time in four innings when after a single by Shawn Bowman, David Cooper launched his 15th home run to make it 5-2.

After Snider's homer, the Rock Cats added a run off Drabek in the bottom of the sixth. Revere singled, Roberts walked and both moved up. Revere scored on a ground out by Steve Singleton.

New Hampshire added runs on Adam Loewen sacrifice fly in the seventh and an Adeiny Hechavarria double in the eighth to lead 10-3.

In the eighth, New Britain sent 11 men to the plate, scoring six times to make it 10-9. There were four hits and four walks, two with the bases loaded. Erik Lis added a three-run double.

Steve Singleton tripled off Bubbie Buzachero in the ninth, and scored on a Joe Benson ground out to tie the game at 10-10.

Buzachero (6-0) earned the win by retiring the Rock Cats in the bottom of the tenth, working around a single by Juan Portes (3-for-4), striking out Brandon Roberts to end the marathon.

The Fisher Cats continue the four-game series against the Rock Cats at New Britain Stadium on Tuesday night with a 7:05pm game. Right-hander Zach Stewart (8-2, 4.13) is scheduled to start for the Fisher Cats against New Britain right-hander Kyle Gibson (5-5, 4.31). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
