New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The Rock Cats rallied - including scoring six runs in the eighth - to force extra innings, but fell to New Hampshire, 11-10 in 10 innings on Thursday night.

Rock Cats' relief man Billy Bullock issued two free passes with one out on the board. Bullock (0-2) then misfired a throw for an error that allowed Eric Thames, who had led off the inning with a walk, to cross the plate for the winning run.

David Cooper had a two-run homer for the Fisher Cats in the fourth inning. Travis Snyder added a three-run blast in the fifth that put the Fisher Cats ahead, 8-2.

The Rock Cats put another run on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Ben Revere scored on a groundout by Steve Singleton to close the gap, 8-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Fisher Cats sent B.J. LaMura to the mound in relief of Drabek. LaMura walked leadoff batter Juan Portes, allowed a single to Revere, and walked Brandon Roberts to load the bases. He then allowed a free pass to Singleton to force in Portes (3-for-4). LaMura was pulled in place of Trystan Magnuson, who walked Chris Parmelee to force in Revere. Joe Benson, the Rock Cats home run leader, came to the plate with the bases loaded and no outs but struck out. Erik Lis followed with a bases clearing double to put the Rock Cats within striking distance, 10-8. Pinch hitter Jair Fernandez added a two-out RBI single to bring the Rock Cats within one.

Singleton delivered a one-out triple in the bottom of the ninth and came around to score on Benson's groundout to tie the game.

The last time the Rock Cats faced Kyle Drabek, the Blue Jays prospect fired a no-hitter in New Hampshire. This time out, the Rock Cats managed four hits and three runs in seven innings. Bubbie Buzachero (6-0) picked up the win in relief after blowing the save in the ninth.
