Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Aeros made a roster move today as RHP Shane Lindsay was transferred to Class AAA Columbus and LHP Nick Hagadone was activated from the disabled list.
Lindsay, who was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians from the New York Yankees organization back on June 1st, was dominant in his first career stint in the Eastern League. The 25-year-old Melbourne, Australia native earned the save with two strikeouts in Wednesday's victory over Altoona to highlight his 10 games of relief for Akron. In 11.2 innings pitched, he recorded a 0.77 ERA with 18 strikeouts against 12 walks, allowing just two hits and three runs (one earned) overall for a .051 batting average against. Lindsay began the season as the 23rd-best prospect in the Colorado Rockies system, according to Baseball America, and was then claimed off waivers by the Yankees on May 14th. The last team Lindsay pitched for was Colorado Springs in the Class AAA Pacific Coast League where he held a 0-1 record and a 6.59 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched earlier this year
Hagadone, Cleveland's third-best prospect in the organization according to Baseball America, returns to the Aeros active roster after landing on the disabled list retroactive to July 5th with left shoulder discomfort. The 6'5" left-hander out of Sumner, WA last pitched on July 4th as he allowed just one run in four innings pitched at Prince George's Stadium against the Bowie Baysox. The 24-year-old Hagadone earned the promotion from Class A Kinston on June 1st and he is 1-0 with a 5.48 ERA in 23.0 innings pitched in six Double-A starts after going 1-3 with a 2.39 ERA for Kinston. He underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery back in June 2008 and was acquired by the Indians along with Bryan Price and Justin Masterson from the Boston Red Sox for Victor Martinez last July.
The Aeros roster currently stands at the full 24 men + 1 player on rehab assignment. Hagadone will be wearing his usual #58 as he starts tonight in the opener of a four-game weekend road trip against the Reading Phillies at 7:05 p.m. As a reminder, IF Carlos Rivero has returned to #13.
