Last Week

The past 10 days saw the Toronto Marlies in three contests playing to a 1-2-0-0 record. First up was a visit to the Adirondack Flames in Glens Falls, NY on November 26th. The Marlies would fall 3-2 in a closely contested battle. Brendan Mikkelson would record his first goal this season and Greg McKegg would add another goal to his team leading total of seven. Toronto would then return home for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. Despite a strong effort from Christopher Gibson, who made 33 saves, the Marlies would lose 4-1. Toronto then played host to the Grand Rapids Griffins Tuesday evening for a 7:00 p.m. contest. Toronto would come out and capitalize on their chances to prevail with a 4-2 victory. Goals were scored by Patrick Watling, Matt Frattin, Connor Brown and Brendan Mikkelson. For Watling, Frattin and Mikkelson the goals were all their second of the season. Christopher Gibson would make 38 saves to backstop the Marlies to the win. With two points in the win, Connor Brown re-takes the team scoring lead with 14 points (four goals, 10 assists). Toronto also scored a season high four goals in the win.

Get To Know Your Marlies: Greg McKegg

#9 Shoots: Left Age: 22 Birthplace: St. Thomas, ON

Greg McKegg is in his third season with the Toronto Marlies after being drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs 62nd overall in the 2010 NHL Draft.

McKegg played in his first NHL game last season suiting up for the Leafs in a contest against the Senators. McKegg currently leads the team in goals with seven while also sharing assistant captain's duties for the club.

Look Ahead

Toronto will participate in three in three's every weekend for the month of December. This weekend sees the Marlies travel to Hamilton Friday night for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The two teams then head back along the QEW for a match at Ricoh Coliseum Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The weekend action is capped off Sunday at 3:00 p.m. when the Marlies host the Rochester Americans at Ricoh Coliseum.
