TOLEDO, OH (December 27, 2005) - Scott Bertoli's hat trick and a 51-save performance from Dustin Traylen helped the Trenton Titans to a 5-3 win over the Toledo Storm in front of 4,472 at Toledo Sports Arena.
The Titans got on the board early when Cole Byers intercepted David Cann's clearing attempt and fired a wrister into the net for his first goal of the season just 2:04 into the contest.
Bracken Kearns answered back with 1:34 left in the first frame as he picked up a loose puck in front of Dustin Traylen and one-timed it home for this ninth marker of the year.
In the second period, Scott Bertoli broke the game open scoring two goals in a span of 2:08 to make the score 3-1.
The Storm would pull back within one goal when Kearns notched his second goal of the night 2:08 in the third period.
From there Trenton led a train to the penalty box that forced them to kill off four man advantages. As the Titans finished a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill on the night, Bertoli tallied the lone power play goal of the game for Trenton at 14:17 of final frame to complete his hat trick.
Jeff Lang cut the Titans lead to one with 2:04 left in regulation before Ned Havern sealed the win with an empty net goal.
Traylen goes to 6-2-0 on the year while setting a team season-high with 51 saves.
The Trenton Titans travel to Dayton to face the Bombers on Wednesday, December 28 at 7:00pm. Tune into WBCB 1490AM or log on to www.trentontitans.com to hear all the Titans action.
