Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - Fresno Falcons (14-4-7, 35 points) goaltender Brett Jaeger stopped 34 Stockton Thunder (5-12-3, 13 points) shots as the Thunder dropped their fourth game in a row, in a 2-1 loss to Fresno before a crowd of 3,972 at Save Mart Center on Monday night.

In the first game after the holiday break, Stockton fell behind 1-0 in the first period, when J.F. Plourde cashed in a shorthanded goal, beating Thunder netminder Jeff Weber with a 10-foot wrister in the slot with 5:50 gone. Joel Irwin knotted the game at 1-1 at the 16:32 mark on the power play, one-timing in a shot from the left circle for his 100th career ECHL goal.

It would be the only offense the Thunder could muster the whole night, as Matt O'Dette vaulted Fresno to a 2-1 advantage at the second period's 4:59 mark, blasting in a 55-foot slapshot from the right point, which deflected off a screen in front of Weber.

The third period featured a scoreless stanza, highlighted by Jaeger's acrobatics to produce 19 third period saves on the Thunder, which included a thwarting of a major power play.

Weber finished with 22 saves in net for Stockton. Stockton returns to play on Tuesday against the Reading Royals with a 7pm (PT) faceoff slated at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing at a $6 "pay-per-view" fare at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B-2 Networks.
