Wranglers, Aces Keep On Streaking In West

A 3-1 win against Bakersfield on Monday extended Las Vegas' winning streak to 10 games and improved the Wranglers to 21-4-2 with 44 points, three points ahead of Alaska at 19-3-3 and six points in front of Idaho at 18-6-2.

Las Vegas is 15-0-1 in its last 16 games and has won an ECHL season-high nine consecutive road games. The Wranglers have broken their team records for consecutive wins and consecutive road wins while tying the team record for consecutive home wins with eight from Oct. 25-Dec. 2. Las Vegas will play five games in six days as it hosts San Diego on Tuesday and Utah on Friday while playing at Long Beach on Wednesday and at Utah on Saturday and Sunday.

Alaska is 13-0-1 in its last 14 games, including an ECHL season-high and team record 11 consecutive wins from Nov. 16-Dec. 16. The Aces have won their last nine home games surpassing the team record of four games achieved three times. Alaska will host Victoria on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Idaho has won its last three games, all on the road, and is 5-0-1 in its last six games. The Steelheads play at Utah on Tuesday before hosting San Diego on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Since suffering a 4-3 overtime loss at Bakersfield in his professional debut on Nov. 5, Las Vegas rookie Mike McKenna has started eight games and is 8-0-0 with three shootout wins and a shutout. He is tied for second in the league with three shootout wins and ranks third in goals-against average with 1.97 and is tied for fourth in save percentage with .927. Marc Magliarditi has won his last six starts to improve to 13-4-1 and is tied for the league lead with 13 wins and two shutouts while he ranks fourth in goals-against average with 2.16.

Dan Tudin leads the Wranglers with 14 assists and 24 points and he is tied for third with 10 goals in 24 games while Chris Stanley is the team leader with 12 goals and three game-winning goals and ranks fourth in scoring with 19 points. Derek Edwardson is second on the team with 11 goals and 22 points while his 11 assists tie him for second with Matt Dzieduszycki, who ranks second with two game-winning goals and third with 21 points.

Alaska' Barrett Heisten has an 11-game scoring streak (7g-11a) while defenseman Ryan Gaucher has a 10-game scoring streak (5g-16a) and a seven-game assist streak (14a). Gaucher leads ECHL defensemen in assists (23), points (30), power-play assists (13) and game-winning goals (3) and he is tied for third in power-play points (15) and tied for fourth in goals (7). Gaucher, who has nine assists and 10 points in his last four games and 15 assists and 19 points in his last nine games, ranks second overall with 23 assists and 13 power-play assists while he is tied for 11th in scoring with 30 points in 24 games. Heisten is fourth in the league with 34 points (15g-19a) while Chris Minard is tied for second with four game-winning goals and tied for third with 19 goals and tied for 15th with 29 points.

In his last seven starts, Matt Underhill is 7-0-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.14 and a save percentage of .959. Underhill is 10-3-1 and leads the ECHL in goals-against average with 1.85 and is tied for the lead with two shutouts while ranking second with a save percentage of .934. Alaska's Chris Beckford-Tseu was called up to St. Louis of the National Hockey League and served as the backup goaltender for the Blues on Dec. 17 before being reassigned to Peoria of the American Hockey League. Beckford-Tseu is 9-0-2 with a shutout and ranks second in the league with a goals-against average of 1.96 and a shootout percentage of .900 and is tied for fourth with a save percentage of .927.

D'Arcy McConvey of Idaho has a three-game assist streak (3a) and a six-game scoring streak (7g-3a) which includes three game-winning goals and three two-goal games. McConvey leads the league with five game-winning goals and is tied for sixth with 32 points (15g-17a) in 22 games. Garett Bembridge has 12 points (8g-4a) in the last six games and leads the ECHL with 22 goals and 41 points in 26 games. Rookie goaltender Steve Silverthorn has won his last four starts to improve to 10-3-0 while lowering his goals-against average to 2.66 and raising his save percentage to .903.

Florida Continues To Dominate At Home, Leads South

Posting back-to-back wins over Pensacola, Florida extended its home winning streak to a team record 12 consecutive games and its winning streak to three games.

The Everblades lead the South Division with 35 points (17-7-1) followed by Gwinnett with 32 points (14-6-4) and Charlotte with 30 points (14-11-2). Greenville (14-9-1) and Columbia (13-12-3) are tied for fourth place with 29 points while Augusta (12-14-2) and South Carolina (10-11-6) are tied for sixth place with 26 points, three points ahead of Pensacola (10-13-3).

Florida is 8-1-1 in its last 10 games and will play at Augusta on Tuesday and at Pensacola on Wednesday before returning to Germain Arena to host Gwinnett on Friday and Saturday. Ernie Hartlieb, who has six points (1g-5a) in the last two games and leads the team with 10 points (4g-6a) in the last five games, leads the team with 15 goals while ranking second with 29 points. Daniel Sisca, who has a team high 17 points (3g-14a) in the last 10 games, is tied for second in the league with a team-leading 23 assists and is tied for ninth in the league with a team-high 31 points. Sisca has two assists in each of his last three games and has an eight-game assist streak (12a) and an eight-game scoring streak (4g-12a). Craig Kowalski has won his last three starts to improve to 11-5-1 with a goals-against average of 2.83.

Greenville, which was 2-0-0 and outscored its opponents 10-2 last week, will host Charlotte on Tuesday and South Carolina on Sunday. Colin Pepperall has a game-winning goal and four assists in the last two games and leads the Grrrowl with 19 assists and 23 points while John Snowden, who has five points (3g-2a) in his last three games, leads the team with 11 goals and four game-winning goals while ranking second in scoring with 22 points. Mike Brodeur has won his last two starts to improve to 13-8-1 while lowering his goals-against average to 2.52 and raising his save percentage to .919.

South Carolina plays at Gwinnett on Tuesday, at Augusta on Friday and at Greenville on Sunday while hosting Augusta on Saturday. Maxime Daigneault is 6-1-0 in his last seven starts at home and 10-8-4 overall.

Augusta's Nicolas Corbeil has a five-game assist streak (7a) and an ECHL season-high 13-game scoring streak (9g-15a) that began Nov. 30. In the 13 games, Corbeil has two multiple-goal games, four multiple-assist games and seven multiple-point games.

Wheeling Opens Lead In North Division

Andy Franck record his professional shutout and Jordan Cameron scored the game winning goal for the second consecutive game as Wheeling beat Dayton 2-0 on Monday to extend its winning streak to three games.

The Nailers, who are 5-1-1 in their last seven games, are 18-7-2 and lead the North Division with 38 points followed by Reading with 32 points (15-6-2) and Trenton with 28 points (13-11-2). Toledo (11-9-3) and Johnstown (9-12-7) are tied for fourth place with 25 points.

The Nailers continue their four-game home stand when they host Columbia on Wednesday and Friday and Trenton on Saturday.

In his first professional season, Franck has won his last three starts to improve to 10-4-1 and has allowed only two goals to lower his goals-against average to 2.44 while raising his save percentage to .902. Cameron has moved into a tie for the team lead with three game-winning goals and a tie for second place with 11 goals while ranking fifth on the team with 17 points in 23 games.

The Nailers are led offensively by rookies Sean Collins (11g-24a) Kurtis McLean (20g-15a), who are tied for second in the league in scoring. Collins leads the league with 24 assists while among league rookies he ranks third in power-play assists (9) and power-play points (14) and fifth in goals (11). McLean is second in the league and first among rookies with 20 goals while he is tied for first among rookies and for fifth overall with three game-winning goals and is tied for the rookie lead in power-play goals (8) and power-play points (15).

Fresno Continues To Lead Pacific

Returning from the holiday break with a 2-1 win against Stockton on Monday, Fresno extended its winning streak to four games and improved to 14-4-7. The Falcons continue to lead the Pacific Division with 35 points followed by Long Beach with 29 points (13-12-3), San Diego with 26 points (11-9-4) and Bakersfield with 22 points (9-10-4).

Fresno, which has won three consecutive away games and is 4-0-4 in its last eight on the road, will play at Bakersfield on Friday and at Phoenix on Saturday and Sunday.

The Falcons have played seven consecutive one-goal games, including three shootouts (1-2) and two overtime games (1-1), and 11 (5-0-6) of their last 13 games (6-1-6) have been one-goal games, including six shootouts (1-5) and three overtime games (2-1).

Brett Jaeger has won his last three starts to improve to 11-3-6 while lowering his goals-against average to 2.64 and raising his save percentage to .913. He leads the league with five shootout losses and is tied for the ECHL lead with two overtime wins and tied for second with three shootout wins. He ranks fourth in the league in wins while ranking fifth with 1,227 minutes and 568 saves and 10th in goals-against average.
