Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors waited tables, sang karaoke and even danced on stage as part of the 9th Annual Tip-A- Condor charity dinner and auction to benefit the Kern County Shrine Club this past Monday.

The Crystal Palace was standing-room only as Condors fans packed the house for an evening of fun and entertainment. The night got off on the right foot as Condors players Kevin Truelson, Reagan Leslie and Yutaka Fukufuji were paid to sing Trace Adkins' "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk." The crowd of nearly 500 laughed and applauded throughout the performance, though after the song Japanese-born Fukufuji said, "I don't understand. What is a Honky Tonk Badonkadonk?" The charity-minded Condors fans paid nearly $2,000 in tips alone to have the Condors christen them with their favorite tunes and serve their meals.

Following the dinner and entertainment the Tip-A- Condor live auction got underway. A signed Kevin Truelson All-Star jersey and autographed game-worn gloves fetched the top price of the night; going, going, gone for $2,000! The Condors also auctioned additional great Condors gear, memorabilia from other professional teams, a trip for two to Las Vegas, and unique opportunities such as golf and dine with the Condors and getting behind the mic to help announce a Condors game.

Overall, this year's Tip-A-Condor, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9, successfully raised $16,044 for the Kern County Shine Club. The Shrine Club raises money through charitable events to support Shriners children's hospitals and other local organizations. The Condors have now topped $94,000 during the Tip- A-Condor's nine-year history.

"I want to give thanks to the Bakersfield Condors for their participation and to the great fans of the Condors," said Shriners President Danny McGlothlin. "Without the fans, the night would not have been the success it was; on behalf of the Shrine Club we appreciate everything."
