Dayton Bombers News Release

Elmira, NY - The Dayton Bombers (27-26-5-5), coming off a shootout win over division-leading Cincinnati, looked to continue their winning ways as they traveled to Elmira to take on the Jackals (37-19-3-4) at First Arena in a North Division showdown. Dayton got on the board first as Mike Walsh put a rebound into the back of the net giving the Bombers the early lead just 4:23 into the game. This was his 11th goal of the year. The goal came on their first power play of the night with assists going to Mike Berry and Corey LeClair. Elmira got their scoring going on the power play as well when Chris Busby put it in past Rejean Beauchemin for his 7th of the year. Beauchemin, back in net for the Bombers, was able to keep away 7 out of the 8 shots he faced.

In an action packed 2nd period, the Bombers notched one on the scoreboard when Ryan Smyth scored his 14th of the season, coming off a great pass from Mike Berry at the 14:13 mark. This was the lone goal for Dayton in the period as the Jackals scored 3 times on 14 shots, including Chris Busby's second goal of the night. Dayton launched 12 shots on Elmira's goalkeeper giving them 20 through two periods. Going into the 3rd period the Jackals had a 4-2 lead.

The 3rd period saw two goals added to the game. The first came when Matt Beaudoin capitalized on a power play, adding to his league-leading 37th goal of the season as he snuck in behind the defense to beat the net-minder. Give credit with assists to Mike Berry and Greg Labenski as Dayton cut the deficit to only 1. With just over a minute left, however, Elmira's Pierre-Luc Faubert earned his 2nd goal of the game and 27th of the year. The Bombers outshot Elmira in the period 10-8, with the total shots tied at 30 for the game.

Dayton hits the road tonight as they travel to New Jersey to take on North Division foe Trenton in a 7:05 face-off tomorrow night.
