SATURDAY: The TinCaps and Cubs were postponed due to inclement weather in South Bend, forcing today's doubleheader.

PROSPECT SHOWDOWN: Ryan Weathers, a Top 10 Padres prospect, is matched up against Brailyn Marquez, who's rated as the Chicago Cubs' No. 1 pitching prospect and 3rd best prospect overall (behind catcher Miguel Amaya and shortstop Nico Hoerner). Weathers ranks tied for 4th in the Midwest League in strikeouts (28), while his 1.59 ERA is 10th lowest. He's walked only 3 in his 22.2 IP, so his 9.33 K/BB is 4th best in the MWL. Weathers has struck out 33% of the batters he's faced (while walking just 3%). Of the batted balls against him, 63% have been ground balls (3rd highest GB% in the MWL) & only 21% have been fly balls (2nd lowest FB% in the MWL).

LEAGUE LEADER: Outfielder Agustin Ruiz has the best Batting Average in the Midwest League at .362. Ruiz's .432 OBP ranks 6th. His 6 Doubles are tied for 10th most. To help explain his success, look to his Line Drive % on batted balls, which according to FanGraphs.com, is at 34% - highest in the MWL.

X-TRA: The first 16 hits of the season for Xavier Edwards were all singles, but the infielder finally doubled in back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday... Edwards ranks tied for 4th in the MWL in Stolen Bases (7) & tied for 9th in Runs (14)... 46% of the time Edwards has put the ball in play this season, he's hit it the opposite way - 6th highest Oppo% in the league.

MAKING HIS MARK: Infielder Tucupita Marcano has hit safely in 4 consecutive games. Through the first 2 games of this series, he's 5-for-8 with a double, a home run, 3 RBIs, 2 walks, and 1 stolen base.

CONTACT HITTERS: Infielder Xavier Edwards has struck out in only 9% of his plate appearances this season - 6th lowest K% in the MWL. Infielder Tucupita Marcano (12%) ranks 11th. Better yet, Edwards has only swung & missed at 2% of pitches - lowest in the MWL. Marcano (4%) is 4th.

NO BULL: Outfielder Grant Little says his favorite movie is Bull Durham. When the movie came out in 1988, South Bend manager Buddy Bailey was the actual manager of the Durham Bulls, then a Braves affiliate. He was also Durham's manager in '86 when film writers asked him questions during their research.

STREAKING: Outfielder Dwanya Williams-Sutton failed to reach base on Wednesday for the first time in a game this season, ending what had been a 14-game on-base streak - tied for the 5th longest in the MWL this year. DWS has been back in business this series with 3 hits and 2 RBIs.

HUNTING RUNS: Catcher Blake Hunt is tied for 9th in the MWL in RBIs (14).

LOPEZ LOCKED IN: After spending more than a week on the Injured List with right wrist inflammation, infielder Justin Lopez has hit safely in 5 consecutive games since returning to the lineup on Monday. Going back to before his IL-stint, Lopez has a hit in 8 in a row and in 9 of his 10 games this season.

TAKE A WALK: Outfielder Jawuan Harris is tied for 9th in the MWL in Runs (14), 10th in Stolen Bases (5) & 10th in Walks (13). As a better evaluation of his patience, Harris has walked in 20% of his plate appearances - 3rd in the MWL in BB%. Last year as a rookie in the Arizona League he walked at a 14% clip.

260 TO THE SHOW: 2016 TinCaps infielder Ty France made his MLB debut with the Padres on Friday night at Nationals Park. France had a pinch-hit single in his first MLB plate appearance, and then had another pinch-hit single on Saturday. France, who played in 68 games for the 'Caps with a .400 OBP before a June promotion, is the 178th Fort Wayne player to reach the majors.

200: Anthony Contreras, who's in his 4th season as the team's skipper, won his 200th game as TinCaps manager on April 11. His win total now stands at 205. The franchise leader in that category is Doug Dascenzo (227, 2007-09).
