Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio - Dillon Paulson hit a grand slam home run and drove in six runs to lead the Great Lakes Loons to a 9-4 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Saturday night. The start of the game was delayed for one hour, 37 minutes due to rain.

The Loons have won back-to-back games in the series after the Dragons opened the set with a win on Thursday night. The series will conclude on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The Dragons took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the first inning when Mariel Bautista walked, went to second when Jay Schuyler walked, and scored on an error. But Great Lakes responded with four runs in the third on Paulson's grand slam to take a 4-1 lead. The Loons added four more in the sixth to extend their lead to 8-1.

The Dragons scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and had a chance to pull to within striking distance. Schuyler opened the inning with a base hit, the first of the night for the Dragons. He eventually scored on Morgan Lofstrom's sacrifice fly, and Jonathan Willems added a two-run single with two outs to make it 8-4. The Dragons had runners at second and third with a chance to pull to within two runs with a base hit, but Michael Siani popped out to the shortstop to end the inning. Great Lakes scored one run in the eighth to close out the scoring.

The Dragons finished the night with just four hits. Willems was 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Dragons starting pitcher Jhon De Jesus (1-2) was charged with the loss. He allowed four runs in three innings, giving up four hits and four walks while striking out two. Eddy Demurias followed De Jesus and worked two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
