Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

The Fort Wayne TinCaps, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, announced the following roster moves today:

Infielder Felix Cabrera transferred from Fort Wayne to Short-Season A Eugene. In one game with the TinCaps this season, Cabrera was 1-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored. The 23-year old from Nizao, Dominican Republic, played in 15 games for Eugene in the Northwest League last year.

Right-handed pitcher Walker Weickel (rhymes with Michael) transferred from extended spring training to Fort Wayne. Weickel, 19, was selected by the Padres in the supplemental first round of the 2012 MLB Draft (55th overall). Last summer, Weickel threw 14 innings for the Arizona League Padres, posting a 4.50 ERA.

With Weickel added to Fort Wayne's staff, the TinCaps roster now features four starting pitchers selected within the first 55 picks of the 2011 and 2012 drafts.
