Dragons On The Field

The Dragons are off to a 2-3 start in the 2013 campaign. Second Basemen Brent Peterson leads the way on the offensive side. He's gone 7-10 at the plate to start the year. Dayton took two of four games from West Michigan and fell 6-0 Monday night to South Bend.

The Dragons have six players on Baseball America's Top 30 Reds Prospects list, all in the everyday lineup. Baseball America rated starting pitcher Robert Stephenson as the top pitching prospect in the Reds farm system. He is ranked second in the organization behind former Dragon Billy Hamilton. Starting pitchers Ismael Guillon (#9) and Sal Romano (#30) are also ranked by Baseball America. Meanwhile, Baseball America touts outfielder Jesse Winker as the "best pure hitter" in the Reds system and the number seven prospect. Outfielder Jeff Gelalich ranks 14th in the system and third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean is rated as the Reds 19th best prospect.

Former major leaguer Jose Nieves starts his first season as manager for Dayton in 2013. Tony Fossas returns to the staff as the pitching coach, and Alex Pelaez begins his third year as the team's hitting coach.
