PEORIA, IL - Raul Alcantara held the Peoria Chiefs to one hit in seven innings as the Beloit Snappers knocked off the Chiefs, 4-1, in Midwest League action at O'Brien Field on Tuesday night.

Beloit's victory means their record improves to 2-4 and they can take the series with a win in the rubber match on Wednesday. Peoria returns to .500 at 3-3.

Alcantara (1-1) was nearly flawless on this night. The only hit he allowed was a lead-off single by Michael Swinson in the fourth. He then proceeded to get the next 12 batters out before handing the game over to the bullpen. Alcantara, who faced just one batter over the minimum, also struck out six without issuing a walk.

With their starter cruising, the Snappers lineup provided the needed run support for the win. In the fourth, Bruce Maxwell (2-4, HR, 3 RBI, run) and Renato Nunez hit back-to-back home runs, Maxwell's, a two-run blast, for three runs against starter Hector Hernandez (0-1). Maxwell's homer was his first round-tripper in professional baseball. In the eighth, Beloit tacked on another run when Aaron Shipman came across on a Maxwell single for a 4-0 lead.

Ryan Dull was the man called on out of the bullpen to finish off the game. He pitched a scoreless eighth, but did give up a run in the ninth when Swinson (2-4, run) tripled and scored on a groundout. That was all the Chiefs would get though, as Dull induced Patrick Wisdom to line out to Chris Bostick for the final out.

The third and final game of this series is scheduled to be played Wednesday night with first pitch at 6:30pm. Beloit will be relying on RHP Michael Ynoa (0-0, 3.00 ERA) and Peoria is going with RHP Kurt Heyer (0-0, 6.00 ERA)
