TinCaps 2,000,000th Fan Update
August 28, 2013 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps are going to give one lucky fan at Parkview Field the chance to walk away with $2,000,000 as the team counts down to their 2,000,000th fan. This promotion will mark the TinCaps potentially welcoming their 2,000,000th fan to a TinCaps game at Parkview Field sometime before the end of the 2013 season.
The TinCaps attendance total since April of 2009 stands at 1,982,491 - just 17,509 shy of the 2,000,000 mark. With three games this holiday weekend, the team anticipates the milestone being reached still this season.
"We have three big games remaining this weekend," said Nutter. "Our games Saturday and Sunday night (7:05pm first pitch) are both fireworks nights. Monday is a special 1:05pm start with Family Feast menu of hot dogs, sodas, popcorn, and pizza complements of US Foods. We also have 1,000 lunchboxes to giveaway to kids 12 and under each of the three days from Parkview Health. Parkview Physicians Group is also giving away 16-month calendars to the first 1,500 fans of all ages those three days too. To top it all off, we anticipate welcoming our 2,000,000th TinCaps fan at some point this weekend. Lots going on at Parkview Field and we are excited about it."
On the game that the TinCaps break the 2,000,000th fan milestone one lucky fan will be chosen with the help of Advantage Specialty, the specialty firm the TinCaps have entrusted with implementing the two millionth fan promotion. That fan will participate for the $2,000,000 following the game.
For the first time, team officials have shared that the chosen fan will have multiple opportunities to win. "While the $2,000,000 is the grand prize, the fan will also have a chance at $200,000 and $20,000," stated Nutter. "We're hopeful that the selected fan will not go home empty handed."
The team returns home next week for the final three-game series of the regular season, with games Saturday (7:05pm), Sunday (7:05) - both with post-game fireworks - and a special Labor Day Monday Family Feast game (1:05pm). The team has already clinched a post-season berth, with their first home playoff game scheduled for Thursday, September 5th at 7:05pm with Fireworks and the usual Thirsty Thursdaỷ̢̢ beer specials.
Team officials estimate the milestone will be broken at some point before the end of the 2013, barring extreme weather that might cancel or postpone a game. Anyone present at the milestone game, with a valid TinCaps ticket, will be eligible to be selected as the 2,000,000th fan.
"It gives a whole new meaning to 'must be present to win,'" said Nutter. "It's fun to think that our two millionth fan could walk out of Parkview Field that night a multi-millionaire. We hope it happens and can't wait to see who ends up with the opportunity. Good luck!" For a complete list of terms and conditions for this promotion please visit TinCaps.com.
Tickets are still available for each game of the TinCaps remaining 2013 schedule. Tickets can be purchased at the Parkview Field Ticket Office, by calling (260) 482-6400, or online at TinCaps.com.
