GO RED - The Thunder returns home for two of the next three. On Friday, February 13th, Wichita will help the American Heart Association honor Go Red Month. Fans are encouraged to wear red throughout the month to help raise awareness of Women's Heart Health. Players will be wearing a special jersey that night, which will be auctioned off after the game with the net proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association. Free upper level ticket vouchers can be found at all area Kwik Shop locations and All Things BBQ, while supplies last. During the 2011-12 season, Go Red Night drew 13,168 fans to INTRUST Bank Arena, the second largest crowd in franchise history. After a one-game road trip to Allen on Saturday, the Thunder host the Americans on Sunday afternoon for Credit Union of America Night.
THREE'S A CROWD - Wichita will play the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night before taking on the Allen Americans three-straight times. Wichita and Allen play a home-and-home series and then will travel to the Dallas Metroplex on Wednesday, February 18th.
AFTER ONE - Over the last four games, Wichita and its opponent has failed to find the back of the net in the first period. Wichita is 12-9-0-0 when tied after one, 6-2-0-1 when leading after one and 3-7-2-3 when trailing after the first.
POWERING UP - Ian Lowe recorded his 16th goal of the season on Friday night. Half of Lowe's markers have been on the man advantage, putting him alone in second place in power play goals with eight. Wichita had gone two games without a power play tally until Friday, stopping an 0-for-12 drought.
CAREER HIGH - Jared Walker notched his 10th goal of the season, which was the eventual game-winner last night. It was his third game-winner of the year and set a new career-high in goals after scoring nine in his rookie season in Bloomington and nine a year ago with the Thunder.
PHYSICAL RIVALRY - Wichita and Quad City combined for 136 penalty minutes on Saturday night. The two teams will not see each other until the middle of March, which could be games that decide the playoff race in the Central Division. Wichita plays the Mallards on March 14th at the i-Wireless Center. The final two games of the season-series come a week later, with Quad City traveling to the Air Capital on Wednesday, March 25th followed by a rematch on March 27th in Moline.
CRUNCH TIME - Danick Gauthier was sent back to Wichita from the Syracuse Crunch yesterday. He played in three games this season for the Crunch. The Tampa Bay Lightning product leads Wichita in goals with 17 and second in points with 37. The Thunder also traded Travis Granbois to the Evansville IceMen for future considerations.
NEWCOMER - Anthony Perdicaro was acquired by the Thunder on Friday and made his debut in Quad City on Saturday. The newest member of the Thunder added his first assist on Flath's third period goal, recording a point against his former team.
LEAGUE LEAD - Todd Hosmer owns the longest road-game goal streak in the league this year, scoring in five-straight away from home between January 16th and January 28th.
