Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have signed defenseman Brett Wysopal. In separate transactions, the Florida Panthers have reassigned defenseman Shayne Taker to the San Antonio Rampage while the Nashville Predators have reassigned defenseman Jaynen Rissling to the Milwaukee Admirals.
Wysopal (Why-SOAP-uhl), a 26-year-old, registered 14 points (1g, 13a) in 41 games for Cincinnati during 2013-14 regular season, ranking fifth among team defensemen. The Ferris State University alum also contributed 11 tallies (2g, 9a) in 24 Kelly Cup Playoff games, helping lead the Cyclones to the Kelly Cup Finals.
Taker, a 24-year-old rear guard, will make his first trip to the AHL this season after posting 10 points and a plus-10 rating in 37 games with Cincinnati. The rookie out of Notre Dame appeared in five AHL games last season for the Rampage after finishing school but did not register a point.
Rissling, a Washington Capitals 7th round draft choice, will also be making his first career trip to the Triple-A level. This season for the Cyclones, the 21-year-old defenseman has collected three points in 27 games along with 74 penalty minutes. Prior to going pro, Rissling played five seasons in the WHL for the Calgary Hitmen - during which time, he amassed 117 points (23g, 94a) in 273 career games.
The Cyclones will be back on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena tomorrow when they play host to the Reading Royals at 7:30pm! In addition to $1 beers for fans 21 and up, we're encouraging fans to dress up in their favorite costumes! Call 513.421.PUCK to secure your seats and for more details.
