Forward Derek DeBlois Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

North Charleston, S.C. - South Carolina Stingrays forward Derek DeBlois is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for February 2-8.

DeBlois, 23, scored four goals and two assists for six points and stood a +6 in two games last weekend. The Narragansett, Rhode Island, native grabbed two assists Saturday in the Stingrays' 7-1 win at Greenville and added four goals, part of his first professional hat trick, on Sunday in a 6-3 triumph over the Gwinnett Gladiators at the North Charleston Coliseum.

In 40 contests with the Stingrays, DeBlois has 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists). Currently in his first professional season, DeBlois attended the University of Michigan for four seasons picking up 61 points (24 goals, 37 assists) in 141 career games.

On behalf of Derek DeBlois, a case of pucks will be donated to a South Carolina youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 31,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

The Stingrays hop on the road for a quick meeting against the Greenville Road Warriors tonight, Tuesday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena before returning home to celebrate the annual Dog Days of Winter contest with the Gladiators at the Coliseum on Friday, February 13 at 7:05 p.m. Bring your dog to the game for FREE (two dogs per person, must be trained)!
