
Thunder Suffers First Loss of Season to Allen

Wichita, KS (Nov. 3rd) - Wichita suffered its first loss of the season on Friday night, falling 5-3 to Allen at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Louick Marcotte, Mark MacMillan and Zach O'Brien found the back of the net in the losing effort for the Thunder.
Just 2:30 into the game, MacMillan stuffed home a rebound near the right post and gave Wichita a 1-0 lead. Allen answered and scored the next two. Joel Chouinard scored on the power play at 3:10 that tied it at one. Jonathan Lessard gave the Americans their first lead of the game after he stole a pass in the slot and beat Joel Rumpel to make it 2-1. Wichita tied it less than two minutes to go an a power play goal from Louick Marcotte and the teams headed to the locker room locked up at two.
In the second, O'Brien came off the bench during a rush and fired a one-timer past Jeremy Brodeur to give the Thunder their second lead of the game, 3-2.
Allen scored three times in the third period during an eight-minute span. Alex Schoenborn tied the game three minutes into the third with a slap shot from the slot. Vincent Arseneau gave the Americans the lead for good just 34 seconds later with a one-timer from the edge of the right circle to make it 4-3. Lessard netted his second of the night at 10:16 to close out the scoring at 5-3.
MacMillan has four goals in the last three games. Kyle Platzer extended his point-streak to seven games with an assist. Istvan Sofron added his third assist in the last two games. Dyson Stevenson finished with a pair of assists. Rumpel suffered his first loss, stopping 38 of 43 shots. Jeremy Brodeur claimed his first pro win, stopping 23 of 25 shots he faced.
Wichita went 1-for-3 on the power play. Allen was 1-for-4 on the man advantage.
The Thunder travels to Texas tomorrow to take on Allen starting at 7:05 p.m. Wichita returns home on Sunday afternoon with the first meeting of the season against the Utah Grizzlies at 4:05 p.m. Military personnel get a complimentary ticket with a valid ID.
