Last Night

Tristan King and Justin Kovacs scored in the shootout for the host Mallards after Matt Pohlkamp tied the game in the third period for the Mallards, who defeated the Indy Fuel 4-3 in the shootout .

Three

The Mallards have won three straight games.

Workin' Overtime

Each of the Mallards' last three games went to overtime. That run started last Friday when the Mallards went beyond regulation for the first time this season to claim a 3-2 shootout win over the Idaho Steelheads. The following evening the Mallards overcame Idaho 3-2 in overtime.

On the Plus Side

Last night's win lifted the Mallards over .500 for the first time this season.

On the Road

The Mallards tonight play just their second away game of the season. They dropped their only prior road tilt 3-0 on October 21 in Toledo.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards last night completed a 3-0-0 homestand and improved to 4-2-0 on home ice this season. The Mallards will go on to play 13 of their first 16 games at home.

Tight

Each of the Mallards' four victories have been one-goal games.

First Blood

The Mallards have scored first in each of their last two games after surrendering the first goal in each of their first five. Sam Warning's opener at 2:30 of the first period last night was the Mallards' earliest goal this season.

Early

The Mallards allowed the first Indy goal at 4:33 of the first period last night and have now given up a goal no later than the 4:33 mark of the opening period in six of their first seven games.

Late

Cam Reid last night scored to give Indy a 3-2 lead with just six tenths of a second left in the second period.

Shooting Gallery

The Mallards last night set a team season high by taking 48 shots while outshooting the opposition- Indy had 32 shots- for the first time this season. The Mallards have topped 40 shots in each of their last two games and have totaled 91 shots over those two contests (they threw 43 shots at the Idaho net last Saturday).

Between the Pipes

Ivan Kulbakov last night made 29 saves in regulation and overtime before foiling both Indy shootout chances on the way to his third straight win. Kulbakov has posted a 2.16 goals against average and a .950 over save percentage by stopping 132 of 139 shots during that streak. On the season, Kulbakov leads the ECHL in saves (196), is tied for the league lead in wins (4), ranks fifth in minutes played (315) and ranks seventh in save percentage (.933). Kulbakov is also now 5-for-5 in the shootout this season.

Warning Sign

Warning (6-1-7) has scored in each of the Mallards' last three games and has scored in six of their first seven games of the season. He is tied for second in the ECHL in goals.

Justin Kovacs (2-4-6) reached 100 career points by assisting on Warning's goal last night.

Pohl Position

Pohlkamp (3-1-4) has scored in back-to-back games and recorded points (2-1-3) in each of his last three games.

King Me

King has now scored in each of the Mallards' two shootouts this season. He scored the only goal of the shootout last Friday against Idaho.

Debut

Defenseman Dmitry Osipov made his Mallard debut last night after being loaned to the club by the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.

Firsts

Willie Raskob's two assists in last night's game were his first points for the Mallards. Kyle Bigos and Ales Sova also recorded their first Mallard points by picking up an assist apiece last night. Alex Globke scored his first goal as a Mallard last night.

Milestones

King has 93 career goals...Garrett Klotz has 976 career regular season penalty minutes.

Special Teams

The Mallards went 1-for-6 on the power play last night and have scored four times on 14 opportunities over their last three games. The Mallards rank eighteenth in the ECHL on the power play (13.8 percent). After going 2-for-2 on the penalty kill last night, the Mallards also rank eighteenth in that department (80.0 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards and Komets tonight meet for the first time since Fort Wayne defeated the Mallards four games to one in the opening round of last spring's playoffs. The clubs will collide a total of nine times this season. During the regular season, the Mallards went 4-8-0 against the Komets last year. The Mallards went 2-4-0 in Fort Wayne. The Mallards have gone 54-57-11 all-time against the Komets.

Ins and Outs

Defenseman Dmitry Osipov was loaned to the Mallards by Chicago (AHL) Wednesday...The Mallards Tuesday traded defenseman Chris Leibinger to Utah in exchange for financial considerations.
