WINNIPEG, Manitoba - The Gary SouthShore RailCats opened a seven game road swing with a 2-1 decision over the Winnipeg Goldeyes to win for the third straight contest.

Winnipeg grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against RailCats starter Jack Frawley. Price Kendall led off the game with a single and moved to third on a base hit from Kody Kaiser. Wes Long, the game's third batter, put the Goldeyes in front with a sacrifice fly.

Barry Fowler, 35, making his first professional start for the Goldeyes, retired the first 15 RailCat batters before Mike Rohde led off the sixth with a single. Fowler left with the lead following 5.2 innings, allowing just the Rohde single. Frawley was just as strong for the RailCats, easing his way through six innings and allowing just the first inning run in a nice rebound start. Frawley fanned three and scattered six hits to tally his first win of the season.

The RailCats used some luck to nab the lead in the top of the seventh inning. Reliever Ian Thomas walked Brad Boyer with one away. Thomas attempted to pick off Boyer, but the throw was late as Boyer stole second. Moments later Boyer crossed the plate with the tying run on a chopper infield single off the bat of Toddric Johnson. Kyle Haines put the RailCats ahead with another single, deflecting off the glove of reliever Chad Benefield into right to dive in Cristian Guerrero with the winning run.

David Nathanson shut the door in the bottom of the ninth, collecting his fifth save of the season. Nathanson trapped the tying run on third and left the winning run on base. Guerrero finished with a pair of hits in the game for the RailCats, who have psoted three consecutive victories for the first time this season.

The series will continue tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Nolan Nicholson (0-2, 10.03) starts for the RailCats opposite RHP Dustin Glant (1-2, 6.40) for Winnipeg.
