RedHawks Strike Early, Hold On To Win 5-3

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (8-7) win their first firework night of the year over the Sioux City Explorers (6-8) by a score of 5-3 at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.

The RedHawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Jesse Hoorelbeke hit a double to score Mike Coles and Nic Jackson. Then, Carlo Cota singled to score Hoorelbeke. Jim Fasano added a two-run double of his own in the seventh inning to give the RedHawks a 5-1 lead.

Scott Fogelson continued his dominance of opposing teams, holding the Explorers to only one run (earned) and five hits during his six innings of work to earn the win. Fogelson is now 2-0 with a 0.98 ERA. Nick Schumacher was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs (one earned) over 5.2 innings. Alex Caldera picked up the save.

The RedHawks will host the Sioux City Explorers tomorrow night at Newman Outdoor Field for the second game of a three-game series. Game time is 7:02 pm.
