Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. â The Fresno Falcons scored twice in the third period in an attempt to overcome a 2-0 deficit, but gave-up a costly game-winning, short-handed goal on their way to losing to the Trenton Titans on Wednesday at Save Mart Center, 3-2.
The Titans' Bryce Cockburn opened the scoring at 12:48 of the first when he re-directed a shot off the stick of Tyler Kindle. He then worked a pretty give-and-go, setting up B.J. Kilbourne at 13:40 of the second to give Trenton a 2-0 lead heading to the third period.
Fresno did not find the back of the net until Kory Mullin fired a shot from the point past Titans goaltender Andrew Allen at 11:53 of the final period. Trailing by one, the Falcons went on the power play moments later, only to give-up an unassisted short-handed tally to Cockburn at 13:43. Fresno would receive one more chance with the extra man and pulled back to within one at 17:05. Off the end-boards, Mike Sandbeck fed John Wroblewski low in the slot for the latter's sixth of the season. The Falcons were able to pull goaltender Mike Brusseau in the waning moments but were unable to find the tying goal.
The loss drops Fresno to 12-28-5 on the season, keeping the club in seventh place in the Pacific Division.
The same two teams battle one another on Friday at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center before Fresno hosts the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Raiderette cheerleaders will entertain fans throughout Saturday's contest.
Tickets for both games are still available for as little as $8 and can be purchased at the Save Mart Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, which include select Save Mart Supermarkets, Tower Records, Wherehouse Music and Ritmo Latino locations, charged by phone at 485-TIXS or bought online by clicking the Ticketmaster icon throughout www.fresnofalcons.com.
