Cloutier Recalled to Houston Aeros

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana IceGators announced today that goaltender Frederic Cloutier has been called-up to the AHL Houston Aeros. Cloutier went 0-1-0 with a 5.13 goals against average during a January stint with the Aeros.

Cloutier, 22, posted a 14-5-2 record, a 2.49 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 22 games for the IceGators. He started last month’s ECHL All-Star Game, his second such appearance in his three-year career. The 6-foot, 180-pound native of Ste. Honore, Quebec, was 4-3-2 with a 2.46 goals against average in 12 appearances last season for Houston before a wrist injury ended his campaign. Cloutier was the 2001-02 ECHL Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year.

Left wing Dennis Shiryaev was placed on the 30-day injured reserve list today for an injury sustained in last Tuesday’s game against the Texas Wildcatters. Shiryaev, a 6-2, 220lb native of Kharkov, Ukraine, has played 39 games for the IceGators this season, posting a career-high 25 points (10g – 15a) and amassing an ECHL-leading 253 penalty minutes.

The IceGators will play two home games this weekend, Friday, February 6 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05 pm and Sunday, February 8 against the Florence Pride at 4:05 pm. On Saturday, the team will travel to Biloxi to take on the division rival Mississippi Sea Wolves.
