Checkers Make Player Moves
February 5, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release
(Charlotte, NC - Thursday, February 5) The Checkers announce today that the Hartford Wolf Pack has assigned forwards Brandon Cullen, Ryan Cuthbert, Lucas Lawson and defenseman Jeff State to Charlotte. The Wolf Pack has also recalled left wing / defenseman Steve MacIntyre and reassigned him to the Jacksonville Barracudas of WHA2. In addition, the Checkers have traded center Daisuke Obara to the Augusta Lynx for future considerations. The moves are announce today by Checkers General Manager / interim Head Coach Derek Wilkinson.
"We're very happy to receive some quality players back from Hartford." remarked Wilkinson. "The Wolf Pack got some players back from injuries and want all their guys to play and get quality ice time, and that will certainly be the case when the four guys get here. With MacIntyre and Obara, we want them to get ice time and with the new additions their time would have been severely limited. This way they'll get to play with their new teams and continue to develop their skills."
All the players assigned by Hartford to the Checkers will be in the lineup tonight when Charlotte travels to Gwinnett to take on the Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. Cullen and Cuthbert were recalled by the Wolf Pack after last Thursday's Checkers game in Greensboro. State was recalled by Hartford on January 9, while Lawson last played for the Checkers on November 21 before his recall to the Wolf Pack.
