Belitski earns call-up to AHL

ROANOKE, VA – Roanoke Express Head Coach Tony MacAulay announced today that goaltender David Belitski has been called-up to the Toronto Roadrunners of the American Hockey League. The call-up to the AHL is the first of Belitski's career.

The 26-year-old native of Mississauga, Ontario has skated in 26 games with the Express this season, compiling a record of 12-9-4, with a 2.92 goals against average and a save percentage of .917. Earlier in the season Belitski won six straight games in net for the Express from October 31 through November 13. Last week Belitski was 1-0-1 with a 0.97 GAA.

Prior to joining the Express, Belitski spent the previous six seasons playing in Germany where he helped Bietigheim win the Deutchland Cup in '01-'02, and was a Bundesliga All-Star with Bietigheim in '99-'00.

Belitski will join the Roadrunners for their game on February 6 vs. St. John's. Belitski is the fifth Roanoke player to receive a call-up to the AHL this season, joining Dan Carlson, Tim O'Connell, Joe Dusbabek, and Shawn Limpright.

The Express will sign an emergency back-up for the time Belitski is gone.

The Express returns home on Tuesday, February 17, when it hosts the Greensboro Generals, and the remains at home on Friday and Saturday Feb. 20 & 21 to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators.
